Please be aware that Daimler Benz never homologated the pre 2008 Smart fortwo (Mk7 and earlier) for towing. Strictly, therefore, it is not legal to use ANY MAKE of Tow-Bar for towing by a Smart 450 on a public highway. However, we understand these may be used to mount a lightweight Cycle Rack. We understand the new Smart fortwo, (451 Mk8 2008+), has been homologated for light towing up to 450kg Hence we sell 3 types of Smart towbar:

i) Smart 450 - UK manufacture for Off Road Use Only

ii) Smart 451 - UK manufacture for Off Road Use Only

iii) Smart 451 - German manufacture approved & plated for highway use

Maximum permissible towable trailer mass: 450kg braked or, 450kg unbraked
Maximum permissible static vertical load on coupling ball: 45kg
Maximum mass of the vehicle, with bodywork, in running order, including coolant, oils, fuel, tools and spare wheel (if supplied) but not including driver: 855kg
